They are stationary, durable, heterogeneous by nature, price-negotiable in many cases, and subject to changes in value over time. Single-family homes are an avenue to economic stability and wealth building for many families. Construction of homes contributed $1.15 trillion to the US economy in 2018.  Insufficient supply of affordable homes, whether rental or home-owner occupied) impact a the economic health of a community. A Real Life, Modern-day Hero? « Bulatlat

After experiencing being cheated and neglected while working as an OFW, Gil Lebria became determined to fight for the rights of migrant workers wherever he was deployed to work. He exposed the oppression experienced by fellow OFWs while he was in Taiwan and again in Kuwait. Now he is back once more to fight for his and his co-workers’ rights after being victims of contract-substitution and made to endure inhuman working conditions in Qatar.

A real life, modern-day hero? No, he is just an OFW trying to make a living for his family, but he has learned to stand up for his and his fellow OFWs’ rights.

Pact cuts OFW fees to Taiwan by 85%

"The Philippines and Taiwan have agreed to cut by about 85 per cent the placement fees of Filipinos eligible to work in Taiwan.

However, the agreement is subject to the confirmation of the labor departments of the two countries.

Amadeo Perez Jr., chairman and chief executive officer of the Manila Economic and Cultural Office (MECO), said in an interview that pending approval by the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) and the Ministry of Labor in Taiwan, both countries would facilitate the reduction of deployment fees of Filipino workers to Taiwan.

Perez said the reduction was initiated by President Aquino to eliminate what the Chief Executive allegedly called excessive fees charged by brokers to labor applicants to Taiwan."
